Everything you need to know
The Equinix Silicon Cup will be held at Cowes Yacht Haven on Thursday
9th and Friday 10th Sep 2010. The regatta will again see two days of top class racing in the Solent, and a great themed fancy dress Gala Dinner, which will be held on Thursday evening in Cowes Yacht Haven Events Centre.
Why take part?
Two days of yacht racing offer formidable opportunities
for networking, team-building, and cultivating business
relationships. Participants are likely to remember for
the rest of their lives how they crewed a racing yacht.
Imagine the branding kudos of sailing a yacht emblazoned
with your organisation's logo past your rivals and potential
customers. A regatta is the most effective team building
event there is. People arrive as a group of individuals
and leave as a tight knit group. The professional skippers
will allocate tasks to motivate the crew into working
as a unit. The adrenalin and excitement of the racing
does the rest!
Who is eligible to take part?
It is organised by and for the IT industry. That includes not only the vendors, but also IT departments, retailers, manufacturers, importers, finance companies, law firms, logistics and other suppliers to the sector.
I know nothing about sailing but would like to enter a team?

How do I enter?
There are lots of different ways to participate in the regatta, from entering your own boat, or privately chartered yacht, to chartering in a yacht and professional crew for you and your team. No previous sailing experience is necessary and we can provide a suitable package to meet your team's requirements.
How good do crews have to be?
The emphasis is on fun and safety. Whilst some of the
yachts will be competing quite seriously, other yachts
enjoy simply taking part - although the competitive instincts
tend not to be not far below the surface in the IT industry!
There will be a qualified skipper on all boats, the rest
of the crew can be a mixture of skill levels. No previous
sailing experience is necessary to take part in the regatta.
Can I enter my own boat?
Absolutely! Lots of companies who either own or have the
use of private yachts, enter the event. To enter your
own boat, simply click the register now page, download
and fill in the form and return to us as detailed. If

Chartering a boat
Teams chartering yachts range from those who have never
set foot on a boat before, to those with bags of experience.
There are yachts available to suit all levels and no previous
sailing experience is required. Packages range from £4145
to £6225 for teams from 6 to 12 people. All packages are
fully inclusive, and include professional crew, branding,
catering, wet weather gear, moorings, fuel, and race entry

Sponsorship opportunities
With over 700 people from around the IT industry at the
event, The Equinix Silicon Cup provides an excellent opportunity
to promote your company to the industry. There are a number
of sponsorship opportunities for businesses to sponsor

Accommodation
Some teams sleep on the boats from a point of convenience,
but many teams wish to sleep ashore on the Thursday night
of the event. For more information on available accommodation

Charity
Historically all pennies raised have been split between our three
nominated charities. 2010 aims to raise over £60,000 for the three charities; The NSPCC, Dreams Come True, and The Jubilee Sailing Trust.
