New Silicon Cup sponsor announced
LONDON, UK - 17 May 2011 - EMC Computer Systems (UK) Limited today announced that it has signed a
three-year agreement which will see the company become the title sponsor of the Silicon Cup charity sailing regatta
until 2013.
The EMC Silicon Cup is the largest sailing regatta for the IT industry. Founded in 2000 and now in
its twelfth year, the 2011 event is set to feature 450 competitors in 35 boats competing in three sailing categories –
all aiming to raise money for the Cup’s three nominated charities: the NSPCC, Dreams Come True and the
Jubilee Sailing Trust.
Speaking at the contract signing, Russell Poole, Service Providers Sales Director for EMC in the
United Kingdom and Ireland, said: “The Silicon Cup has a proud tradition of combining thrilling racing and entertainment
with meaningful support for some very worthy causes. Social engagement is a closely-held value at EMC – one that is
important to our employees and which we take seriously as an organisation – and we are proud to be partnering with
the Silicon Cup for the next three years.
“We look forward to welcoming the IT industry’s employees, customers and partners to the Solent in
September for some entertaining fundraising challenges,” said Russell Poole.
